Maynard Firefighter Accused Of Child Rape Found Dead
MAYNARD (CBS) – A veteran Maynard firefighter who was arrested on rape charges last month has died.
Police say 59-year-old James MacGillivary was found unresponsive at his home Tuesday night. He was transported to Emerson Hospital where he was pronounced dead just after midnight Wednesday.
MacGillivary's death is not considered suspicious.
He was placed on administrative leave on Feb. 5 as police began an investigation of sexual assault allegations from an incident that allegedly took place in 1991.
He had been a member of the fire department since 1986.
No other information was released.
