Volunteers Clean Up Smelly Seaweed In Marshfield
MARSHFIELD (CBS) - The town of Marshfield is now asking volunteers to help remove the rotting seaweed that washed ashore around Green Harbor Beach when a Nor'easter hit the coast a few weeks ago.
Town residents are anxious to have the remaining seaweed removed after learning that the gases from the decomposing seaweed can make people sick with prolonged exposure.
"The odor – horrific. Like a barnyard. Manure," one resident said.
"It smells like rotting eggs," another commented.

Marshfield town officials say they don't have the money to remove this nasal nuisance.
At least one resident questioned that assertion.
"We did not have much snow this winter. I don't understand why they can't take some of that money," he said.
