Lackluster Lackey: 'It's Got To Turn Some Time'
BOSTON (CBS) – Another start, another shellacking for Red Sox starter John Lackey.
"It's got to turn some time. Everything in my life sucks right now to be honest with you," Lackey said after giving up nine runs in 6.2 innings in a 9-4 loss to the Blue Jays Wednesday night.
"Everything went wrong that could go wrong," he said. "Pretty much the story of the whole damn year."
The Red Sox trailed Toronto 4-3 when Lackey took the hill to start the bottom of the seventh inning. With two outs Lackey walked the bases loaded and followed that with another walk, making it 5-3 Blue Jays. After giving up a two-run double to John McDonald, Lackey was done after 118 pitches.
"I don't know what the hell happened," Lackey said. "I thought I threw the ball way better than I did last start. I don't know."

The right-hander has now lost three straight to fall to 2-5 on the season. He's allowed 17 runs in 10.2 innings pitched in his last two outings, and his season ERA now sits at 8.01. He is just 1-3 on the road with a 7.03 ERA.
It is not what Boston expected to get when they signed Lackey to a five-year, $82.5 million deal last offseason.
He is now 16-16 with an ERA of 4.95 in a Boston uniform.
