Kayshon Boutte traded from Patriots to Texans, report says

With a crowded wide receiver room, the New England Patriots have reportedly traded Kayshon Boutte to the Houston Texans after months of rumors.

Tom Pelissero of The Ringer first reported the trade Monday, saying Boutte would be sent to the Texans in exchange for safety Jaylen Reed and a draft pick.

Ian Rapoport of ESPN and the NFL Network later added that the draft pick is a seventh-round selection in the 2028 draft, a pick that originally belonged to the New Orleans Saints.

NFL insiders reported in the offseason that Boutte had requested a trade in the final year of his contract.

Despite the trade request, Boutte reported for voluntary offseason workouts and has made big plays throughout training camp.

In July, Boutte addressed the trade rumors.

"We all hear a lot of the stuff that's going on. I think my main focus was just I'm here 'til I ain't," Boutte said. "I'm here today, my feet are here today. If I'm somewhere else next week, the week after, that's just what it is. That's part of the business."

After acquiring A.J. Brown from the Eagles and signing Romeo Doubs, the Patriots were facing a logjam at the position.

Still, Boutte has become one of quarterback Drake Maye's most trusted wide receivers over the last two years, especially downfield. During the team's run season he had 551 yards and six touchdowns, averaging 16.7 yards per game.

The Texans had a need at wide receiver after Jayden Higgins tore his ACL and will miss the season.
