Jo Jo White Elected Into Basketball Hall Of Fame

BOSTON (CBS) -- Boston Celtics great Jo Jo White is finally heading to the Basketball Hall of Fame

White will join 24 other Celtics greats enshrined in Springfield, Massachusetts this summer, as the Class of 2015 was announced on Monday morning.

The Celtics drafted White with the ninth overall pick in 1969. He won a pair of NBA Championships in Boston in 1974 and 1976, earning NBA Finals MVP honors in 1976 against the Phoenix Suns. White made seven NBA All-Star teams, averaging 18.3 points per game over his 10-year Celtics career. He averaged 21.5 points per game during the postseason.

White also won Olympic gold in 1968 before being draft by Boston. The Celtics retired White's No. 10 in 1982.

White and five other electees will be enshrined in the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in Springfield at a ceremony on Friday, September 10. White's head coach, Tommy Heihnson, will also be enshrined as a head coach this year. Heihnson was inducted as a player back in 1986 and will become one of only four people to be enshrined as a player and coach, alongside Bill Sharman, Lenny Wilkins and John Wooden.

Also elected to the Hall of Fame on Monday were former players Dikembi Mutombo, Spencer Haywood and Lisa Leslie, referee Dick Bavetta and coach John Calipari,
