Massachusetts Task Force Arrives In Florida For Hurricane Dorian
BEVERLY (CBS) -- Massachusetts Taskforce 1 arrived in Florida on Saturday to assist with any search and rescue operations that may be needed after Hurricane Dorian passes through the area. The team consists of 45 members from all throughout New England and is based out of Beverly.
"Everyone is ready to load up and deploy for Search and Rescue operations at a moment's notice," said a statement from the Taskforce.
Their convoy of trucks and resources initially was sent to Jacksonville but has since moved to Orlando.
"We're prepared to respond to any of the calls that we may be required to go to. It could be structural collapse rescue, it could be swift water rescue. We are prepared to deploy with our vehicles, with our partner's, other services that have high-water response vehicles, we can deploy our boats, we can operate from helicopters with other response agencies, so we're prepared to deploy to any type of event that our services could be required at," said Task Force Leader Sean Brown.
Last year the group spent 18 days in South Carolina and Virginia after Hurricane Florence hit.
