Aaron Fallon said he and his boyfriend kissed inside the Market in the Square early Sunday morning and were thrown out moments later.
Fallon said a homophobic clerk kicked them out.
WBZ-TV's Kate Merrill reports.
"My boyfriend kissed me and I'd say about two seconds later, the clerk told us to leave. His exact words were 'We don't want that (expletive) in here' and he sort of followed us out of the store," Fallon told WBZ NewsRadio 1030. "I was pretty upset it felt like homophobia."
But, store manager Ahmed Elino told WBZ the clerk thought they were drunk and shoplifting. He says at 3 a.m. his employees are always on alert for trouble. Elino says the men were standing behind a rack of olive oil and appeared to be shoplifting.
"I really don't believe that," Fallon said, adding that he talked to Elino about the incident Monday.
"When I watched the security footage we didn't touch anything. We were in there for probably less than a minute."
Elino apologized anyway and Fallon appreciated that.
"I offered to him a gift card and made sure everything is fine," Elino said.
"I made sure he's going to come back again, but there's nothing else that I can do."
The clerk has since been fired.
