Gresh & Zo: Josh Beckett 'Etches In Stone' An Unforgettable Night For Red Sox Fans

On a night when Paul Pierce gutted out a game on a sprained MCL in one building in Boston, Josh Beckett only managed 2 1/3 innings over at Fenway Park.

He gave up seven runs, but that wasn't the worst part of his night. That came after the 8-3 loss, when he stepped to the microphone in the Red Sox' press room.

Gresh and Zo led off Friday's show discussing Beckett's awful outing following his recent golfing trip.  In his postgame comments, Beckett said what he does on his off day is his business.

The guys are fed up with Beckett's condescending attitude and perceived lack of care.  Gresh and Zo are looking for either Bobby Valentine or ownership to step up and challenge this seemingly coddled team.

Scott Zolak said he believes Bobby V is being told what to say in front of the media, and when he's not allowed to speak his mind, it's obvious. Zo also said Thursday night's showing from Beckett, as well as his sitting in the dugout while Darnell McDonald pitched on Sunday, could be a seminal moment, much like we saw out of Nomar Garciaparra in 2004.

"Will that moment, where supposedly, according to [Dan Roche's] report, [Beckett] was OK to go but didn't go, and then Darnell McDonald took the mound, that there was that one featured moment down in the Bronx, where a certain shortstop sat there in the dugout, while another shortstop that wore pinstripes dove into the stands down the third base line and cut his face up to catch a foul ball," Zo said. "You remember those moments. Those are etched in stone. Those are unforgettable."
