Gresh & Zo: Are The Patriots Viewed As Vulnerable Nationally?

BOSTON (CBS) - Radio announcer Kevin Harlan of Westwood One is on the national call Monday night for Patriots-Chiefs, and on Friday morning he joined 98.5 The Sports Hub's Gresh & Zolak show for a preview.

The Patriots, while 2-1, have struggled out of the gate.

The offensive line looks horrendous. Rob Gronkowski looks two steps slower. Darrelle Revis isn't exactly being a shutdown corner. Tom Brady looks mortal.

Fans have been very critical of the team around these parts through the first three weeks, but what about nationally? How are the Pats viewed around the country? Gresh and Zolak asked Kevin Harlan that very question.

"People concede that even though the names are the same, we know that on that offensive line some names have changed. If anything it's the wide receivers that don't have any national recognition, aside from [Julian] Edelman," said Harlan. "People know what Brady can do. It's more than just a quarterback issue, it's the parts around it. They are still trying to get their shorts on straight, with regards with what the guys are doing, getting that continuity. I think, it's less Brady and more of what's around him."

The Patriots, in recent years at least, haven't exactly started strong.

But as the old adage goes, "It's not how you start, it's how you finish."

In the Brady-Belichick era (not counting the 2008 Matt Cassel year), the Patriots possess a 45-7 record in December.

For what it's worth, Harlan gives Belichick and Brady the benefit of the doubt that they'll turn things around. He urged New England fans not to panic, and added, "Let's wait until Week 6 or Week 7 and see what we really are."
