Great White Shark Spotted Off Martha's Vineyard
MARTHA'S VINEYARD (CBS) - A Great White shark was spotted off the coast of Martha's Vineyard Friday morning.
Fisherman Jeff Lynch, who snapped photos of the animal, reported it was swimming around the carcass of a Minke whale that was tangled in some lobster gear.
Lynch emailed the pictures to Greg Skomal, a Division of Marine Fisheries shark specialist, who confirmed for him that it was in fact a great white.
Environmental Police were said to be towing the whale carcass ashore to further examine it.
