14-year-old boy arrested by Boston Police after teen girl is shot at Dorchester home
A 14-year-old boy has been arrested in connection with the shooting of a teenage girl in Boston Wednesday night, police said.
Officers were called to a home on Milton Avenue in Dorchester just after 8 p.m. for a report of a person shot. They said they found the girl "suffering from gunshot wounds." She was rushed to a hospital with what police described as "non-life-threatening injuries."
According to WBZ-TV I-Team sources, the girl is 14 years old and had been shot in the stomach at what appears to have been a house party.
Police found several teenagers in the home and officers were told about a boy with a backpack.
"Inside of the backpack one of the males was wearing, officers located a loaded firearm. The juvenile male was taken into custody," Boston Police said in a statement. "The firearm was determined to be a Polymer 80 style 9mm black semi-automatic pistol which was loaded with six rounds of live ammunition."
The boy, a 14-year-old from Dorchester, was arrested. Police have not released his name because of his age, but said he will be arraigned in Dorchester Juvenile Court. He's charged with carrying a loaded gun without a license, carrying a firearm without a license, and possession of a large capacity feeding device.
It's still not clear yet what led to the shooting or who pulled the trigger.
Donald Moore has lived across the street for more than 20 years. He said the neighborhood is typically safe and filled with young kids.
"So close to home it is alarming. Usually, it's a quiet street. Usually quiet, not a lot of noise, stuff like that. Just cars passing, just like it is now," he said.
