Felger & Mazz On: The Bright Side Of The Pats' Poor Defense

The Pats' defense is what is is - but at least they don't get 16 penalties in a single game! After watching Monday night's foul-filled debacle by the Packers defense, Felger & Mazz and guest Brian Lowe of Patriots.com compare the two teams and the lack of discipline in Green Bay compared to New England.
Felger: "Did you know they won three Super Bowls in four years? Hasn't been so hot recently...Last night with the Packers- that's what having a team of knuckleheads really looks like. Here in New England, they just didn't draft the right players, or they're too young, or there's something where it's just not coming together, but you just don't see that. It's not that bad. I need to tell myself, 'Look at these other teams, it's not that bad...' I was going through the Patriots' final defensive statistics, where if you show up in any statistical measure you show up on this stat list. Randy Moss ends up on the final defensive stat sheet- tell me if you find Vince Wilfork's name anywhere. I understand it's a two-gap defense and his job is to tie up blockers...But 0.0? What exactly has he done?"
Mazz: "What they did defensively [against the Bills] is impossible to defend...With Green Bay the transgressions seem worse because they have so much talent. Part of the reason you can tolerate it with the Patriots is because you say 'It's probably not a Super Bowl team here anyway.' But the Packers? They have enough talent there to win the championship...The question that got us into this discussion was, 'If you're an opposing offense, who do you have to consider on that defense?' And I said 'Wilfork' and stopped there."
