Enjoy It While It Lasts
After a wild Sunday afternoon and evening featuring wind gusts near or past 50 mph and drenching rains of 2 to 3.5 inches, it is a tranquil morning with just a light breeze in most locations and a little residual rain in places. The warmest part of the day occurred just after midnight with the temperature near 55 degrees. Since then, it has dropped a bit but it will hold nearly steady or fall slightly the rest of the daylight hours. A cold front entering western New England this morning will take all day to reach the coastal plain. We are vulnerable to additional mostly light showers through the morning with decreasing coverage this afternoon when snow showers will arrive in the Berkshires. The chill in the Midwest will arrive overnight and linger the rest of the week. With an upper air low pressure system parked over the Northeast, flurries and snow showers are probable tomorrow and especially Wednesday when a short wave should enhance the activity later in the day and at night. Expect highs near 32 tomorrow and middle 20s Wednesday when it will be quite blustery. A gradual moderation begins on Friday with middle 30s lasting a few days. Sunnier conditions are likely the second half of the week with no convincing signals of any big storms through the weekend. There are several differing solutions depicted by the various models for late Sunday and next Monday. The most reliable version is not presently projecting a coastal storm.
If any new data warrants a revision of the above discussion, I will post an update after 12:30pm. Otherwise, Todd Gutner will publish his thoughts later this afternoon or early this evening.
Make it a great day!
