Driver Repeatedly Runs Over Motorcyclist In Melrose

MELROSE (CBS) – A driver who ran over a motorcyclist several times at a Melrose intersection will face charges, according to police.

Officers say the motorcycle was stopped in front of the car at a red light at the intersection of Main, Franklin and Green streets around 8 a.m. Sunday.

According to witnesses, the light turned green and the car rammed the motorcycle from behind, knocking the rider to the ground.

The driver of the car ran over the victim, put the car in reverse, and proceeded to run him over several more times before taking off.

The injured motorcyclist was taken to Mass. General Hospital with serious injuries.

Melrose police were able to track down the driver who ran him over.

That driver, who has not been identified, will face charges for leaving the scene of a crash after causing personal injury.

At this point, the motive is not clear.
