Death Of Grandmother Outside Lawrence Apartment No Longer Considered Suspicious

LAWRENCE (CBS) - The death of a grandmother outside of her apartment complex in Lawrence is no longer deemed suspicious.

Justina Rosa, 62, was found dead outside the Exchange Street entrance of the Rita Hall Apartments on Hampshire Street Tuesday morning. Police originally calling her death suspicious.

On Wednesday afternoon, the Essex County District Attorney's Office said they had "ruled out foul play, and no longer consider Ms. Rosa's death suspicious."

Rosa's family said she was heading home to her apartment after a visit with a relative, but never made it inside.

The medical examiner conducted an autopsy Wednesday.

"It's a very tragic story. Such a good lady with such a good heart. We don't know what really went wrong," Rosa's nephew Ricky Rosa told WBZ-TV Wednesday. "We don't know if it was an attack or… we want to get some closure, because right now it sounds like it's a mystery."

"I'll miss her and remember the good times," another nephew, Victor Rosa, told WBZ. "Even to her enemies she didn't have no grudges. She tried to fix everything. She'd babysit 24 hours."

Rosa leaves behind an adult son and daughter and grandchildren.

"Right now we're just in shock. Such a great lady with a great heart," Ricky Rosa said.
