Woman & 4-Year-Old Grandchild Struck By Lightning On Cape Cod
EASTHAM (CBS) - A 62-year-old woman and her 4-year-old granddaughter are both okay after being struck by lightning on the Cape on Tuesday.
Eastham fire officials say they received a 911 call round 10:15 a.m. for a report of a person struck by lightning at 17 Marions Way.

"Somebody just got hit by lightning at our house," the caller said. "It hit her hand, (went) down through her arm and into her chest."
Beth Caldwell, the woman who was struck, told WBZ-TV's Jim Smith that she had been holding an umbrella in one hand and her granddaughter Sophia in the other when she was zapped.
"It's like a shock, it's almost like a pain in your arm, and then my arm just started shaking," says Caldwell.
Beth and Sophia were stunned, but conscious. They were taken to Cape Cod Hospital to be checked out, but both were okay.
Apparently the umbrella took the lightning strike, preventing a tragedy.
"I'm fine," says Caldwell. "They say you can have after effects for up to three years, and I'm supposed to check with my regular doctor, but I'm fine. They say that I look better because of it."
