Rivers Talks Bobby V: 'He Doesn't Comp'
BOSTON (CBS) - Boston Celtics head coach Doc Rivers had a great relationship with his Terry Francona during his managing days with the Red Sox.
But Doc is no stranger to new Red Sox manager Bobby Valentine either.
"When I was with the Knicks a thousand years ago, I got to know [Valentine] a little bit," Rivers said at the team's press conference Thursday. "We lived in the same town in Stamford. I ate at Bobby V's quite a bit. I can tell you, he doesn't comp. I can tell you that much about him. I had to pay."

Valentine is set to be introduced by the Red Sox Thursday evening. While he will welcome a new manager to town, River said he will miss Francona. Since Tito's departure in October, Rivers has reached out to him.

"Tito, we talked," said Doc. "He's one of my favorite people," said Rivers. "So, I'll miss him."
