Car Fire Causes Massive Backup On Mass Pike
BOSTON (CBS) - A car fire on the Massachusetts Turnpike brought rush hour to a crawl earlier than expected Monday morning.
The car burst into flames in the eastbound lanes between exits 16 and 17 in Newton around 6 a.m.
No one was hurt, but authorities shut down a lane of traffic to put out the fire and remove the car, just as rush hour was beginning.
That pushed traffic all the way back towards the Weston State Police barracks much earlier than usual.
There's no word on what caused the fire.
