Cape Cod Rentals Are Going Fast

BOSTON (CBS) - As summer 2012 kicks into high gear, traffic over the bridge will be buzzing and Cape Cod beaches will be full of tourists. Summer rentals are up so you better book now.

Elizabeth Weedon from WeNeedaVacation.com says, "bookings are up 15 percent over the same period last year and last year was a strong year too."

But there is still plenty of inventory available. Weedon says vacationers should think outside the box to find exactly what they're looking for, for the right price.

"Joining forces with family or friends, if you want to be on the water, consider fresh water, a lake or pond front home," says Weedon.

For under $3,500 dollars a week, a family of seven can grab a lake home in South Yarmouth, or a home in Dennis that goes for $1,200 a week. "It has three bedrooms and accommodates six people with one bathroom," says Weedon. "It's not on the beach but if you're on the Cape you're not far, this one is two miles from the beach."

If summer prices are too expensive consider vacationing during the off seasons like June and September.

"They are beautiful times to be on the Cape and Islands," says Weedon, "you find so many great prices the water is still warm."

And still just as much shopping and activities to do as the peak season.
