Business Headlines: Dunkin' Sales Up, Evergreen Solar Auction

BOSTON (CBS) – The auction of Evergreen Solar's massive plant in Devens has been put on hold.

Evergreen received a significant amount of federal funding to develop solar energy technology and the U.S. Department of Energy wants to block foreign companies, especially those from China, from bidding for that manufacturing equipment.

DUNKIN' SALES

Dunkin' Donuts sales continue to grow.

It reported U.S. sales up about eight-percent and global sales up closer to nine percent in the third quarter, compared to the third quarter of 2010.

But Dunkin' Donuts reported income fell, in part, because of expenses surrounding its initial public offering.

They also announced they're offering 22 million shares in a secondary offering.

BANK OF AMERICA CAVES

Bank of America has reversed their decision to charge a monthly fee to use debit cards and it doesn't look like they're the only ones.

Several other huge banks like Wells Fargo and J.P. Morgan Chase had tried to implement similar fees, but had decided against them.

Until now, Bank of America had stuck to its guns, but all the negative publicity was apparently too much.
