Bruins Send Jeremy Smith To Providence
BOSTON (CBS) - The Boston Bruins have assigned goaltender Jeremy Smith to Providence.
Boston Bruins General Manager Peter Chiarelli announced the move in a statement Thursday evening.
Smith,25, served as a backup for Boston's Feb. 27 game at New Jersey, as well as their March 17 home tilt versus Buffalo).
He is in his first season with the team.
In 30 games for Providence this season, Smith has a 17-8-5 record, 1.96 goals against average and a .936 save percentage. He has an American Hockey League record of 104-68-15.
The netminder played four seasons for the Nashville Predators (2009-2013) and one season with Columbus Blue Jackets' AHL affiliate in Springfield.
The 6-foot, 173-pound native of Detroit, Michigan was drafted by Nashville in the second round (54th overall) in the 2007 NHL Entry Draft.
