Braintree Soldier Meets Infant Son For First Time

BOSTON (CBS) - A soldier from Braintree who watched his baby's birth online finally held his little boy for the first time Tuesday night at Logan Airport.

26-year-old Army Sgt. Jason Race saw his son Patrick more than two months ago – via Skype.

He was on a laptop computer in the hospital delivery room with his wife, coaching her on as she gave birth to their son Logan.

But nothing beats seeing your child in person for the first time.

WBZ-TV's Christina Hager reports.

"He's beautiful.  He's gorgeous," he told WBZ-TV.  "He's got his mother's eyes."

Sgt. Race is only home from Afghanistan for two weeks, but he said this short visit will help him get through the rest of his tour.

Now he has so much more to look forward to when it's over.
