Boston's Best Upcoming Spring Art Festivals Or Events

It is spring again in Boston and that means art festivals and events all over the city. Parties, museum exhibits, conventions and festivals are just a few of the things Boston offers art fans in the spring. Enjoy music, painting, dance, poetry, jewelry and crafts. Visitors can engage themselves in art, appreciate art and even purchase a piece from a variety of crafts from local artists.

Unlike some other comic book conventions, Boston Comic Con is all about the art and the fans. The kind of celebrities at this event are comic book artists, cosplay professionals and writers. This year, Mike Mignola of "Hellboy" fame, George Perez, who has done "Avengers" books and Don Rosa, artist of "Scrooge McDuck" are all among the several talented artists who will be attending Boston's 2013 Comic Con. Events at the Comic Con include a cosplay contest, film festival and art auction.

The International Folk Music Festival at the Berklee College of Music is in its 27th year in 2013. During this annual showcase, students of the college perform traditional folk music from countries all over the world. This is a great festival for music lovers and those interested in the cultures of other countries. It is showing for one night only, so visitors should get their tickets in advance. Advance ticket prices are discounted from the full price at the door.

The 2013 Japan Spring Festival in Boston is a free family event that showcases several aspects of Japanese culture. Among the food and social aspects of the festival, guests will find a variety of Japanese arts and crafts. There will be performances, crafts from vendors and likely artistic sights like traditional Japanese clothing and makeup. Bring the whole family, enjoy some good food and maybe bring home some art to commemorate Boston's 2013 spring season.

Artists for Humanity is an organization whose self-proclaimed mission is to help young artists with little means to reach their goals of making money by making art. Along with sustainability ideals and a great venue for hosting events, the organization is well placed to put on an excellent party every year, and it does. Every year, the party hosts big names in clothing design, music, footwear, various art mediums and fans of such art. The proceeds of the party go to help Artists for Humanity make the dreams of local youth come true.

Boston's Early Music Festival is not early as in early in the morning. It is a celebration of classical, or early, music. Opening day will feature fanfare at 3:10 p.m. and then a performance of Handel's "Almira" at 3:30 p.m. Those with an interest in celebrating opening day with more than just a performance can attend the Open Night Gala at the Avery Street Ritz-Carlton at 7 p.m. Fans of classical music who miss opening night have until the 16th to catch a show. Events are several times a day during that period.
