Boston's Best Bike Trails

Boston isn't widely known for its outdoor recreation opportunities, but maybe it should be. The vastly different and dynamic landscapes of Massachusetts offer beautiful bike trails both in the forest and by the sea. All you have to do is point your finger to a place on the map and head out.

With six miles of handicapped-accessible trails, Millennium Park has some of the bet bike trails around Boston. In addition to the trails and a canoe launch, riders can also take in beautiful views of Blue Hills, Newton and downtown Boston.

One of the oldest public arboretums in North America, Arnold Arboretum offers some of the best bike trails in Boston. Once you arrive at Peters Hill, walk the last 200 or so feet to the summit to see some of the greatest views of Boston.

The Lexington Loop

The 30-mile trail that makes up The Lexington Loop is one of the most beautiful in all of New England. Riders will bike through some of Massachusetts' most historic towns, including Concord and Lexington. It's a lengthy ride – about three hours. However, if you take your time and enjoy the views you'll see why The Lexington Loop is considered one of the best bike trails around Boston.

Great Island

Cape Cod, Mass.
If you have dreams of biking along beautiful Cape Cod beaches, the bike trail to Great Island is for you. This 26-mile trail is one of the best in Boston. Just take care to pay attention to the tide; during high tide part of the trail can become submerged.

City Square Park

Charlestown, Mass.

Not only is City Square Park in Charlestown a great place to picnic, but it also has one of the best bike trails around Boston. Start off in City Square and head over to the historic Charlestown Navy Yard.
