CHICAGO (CBS) — Boston's Teachers Union is using a full-page ad in Friday Chicago Sun-Times to go after Chicago's mayor over the teachers' strike.
On Wednesday, Emanuel said that Boston teachers had settled their conflicts over teacher evaluation and teacher recall without resorting to a strike, unlike Chicago teachers.
CBS Chicago reports that the ad accuses Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel of mischaracterizing the situation in Boston.
"Dear Mr. Mayor: We understand you referenced our contract settlement. We'd like to point out a few fatal flaws in your characterization of the settlement," part of the ad reads in part.
The ad also notes that teachers in Boston have voted unanimously to support the Chicago Teachers Union.
Chicago teachers went on strike this week. The union's two biggest concerns in contract talks are reportedly over a new teacher evaluation system and whether to allow principals unfettered hiring power.
