Keller @ Large: What Is Wrong With People?
BOSTON (CBS) - When I saw the news item, at first I thought it was a blurb from the Onion, the satirical "fake news" website.
City of Boston DPW crews picked up numerous space savers residents had set out on the street to reserve parking spots in the wake of this past weekend's snowstorm.
This is not an uncommon sight around here, of course; with the exception of the South End, the city allows space savers for the first two days after a snow emergency ends.
One problem – there was no Boston snow emergency.
There barely was a snowstorm.

What did we have here, three or four inches, tops?
This would just be laughable, save for the depressing story on Monday when someone was shot in the city during a beef over a parking space.
What is wrong with people?
Is there no end to their selfishness, entitlement and careless imbecility?
Look, it is no secret that in most neighborhoods of Boston, there are more cars than legal on-street parking spaces. Even without snowfall, there is a good chance that at any given time you may struggle to find a nearby space.
Those who refuse to acknowledge that fact and adjust accordingly remind me of the folks who move into a condo near Fenway Park, then are unpleasantly surprised to experience noise and crowds during the spring and summer.
We all have to make sacrifices or suffer inconvenience in life to co-exist with others.
You would think that's a lesson learned in kindergarten.
But judging from the space savers that came out this weekend, you would be wrong.
