With nearly 125 miles of scenic trails, the Blue Hills Reservation offers unspoiled views of the Boston skyline and harbor directly from its summit. To see views of Boston, be sure to take the Skyline Trail. To plan your trip, stop by the park's headquarters (located at 695 Hillside Street) or visit the Blue Hills Trailside Museum to purchase a trail map. Ample parking is available onsite. The reservation is also accessible via public transportation.

For a unique experience, consider visiting the Borderland State Park in North Easton. Borderland was once the home of the Ames family and includes a 20-room mansion. Tour the mansion and grounds, and then plan a leisurely hike through the nearly 20 miles of available hiking trails located on the property. The visitor's center offers guidance, maps, restrooms and drinking water. Visitors should plan to bring snacks, as there are no food facilities onsite. Visitor parking is available for $2.

With 13 miles of hiking trails winding around 16 different ponds, Myles Standish State Forest is sure to offer hikers both a challenge and a refuge from the daily buzz. Hiking trails will take visitors into heavily wooded areas covered by pitch pine and scrub oak trees. Visitors can call to obtain more information about camping and swimming at the visitor's center. Massasoit State Park is a heavily wooded site that offers many trails easy for hiking. A cranberry bog onsite provides for spectacular views near the Visitor's Center. Make sure your visit includes a walk around the bog. If your trip will keep you onsite for a few hours, be sure to bring a lunch. Parking is free and available onsite.
