Bear Essentials: Quick Hits From Bruins 6-5 Shootout Loss To Montreal
BOSTON (CBS) - Here are a few quick hits from the Bruins' 6-5 shootout loss to the Montreal Canadiens.
NEGATIVES
- It took the Canadiens three shots "to open the scoring on Wednesday night, after combining for one goal on 79 shots the past two games." – Canadiens.NHL.com
- The Canadiens have scored first in each of the three meetings against the Bruins this year.
- Although the Bruins lost yet another game when heading into the third period with a lead, this one felt different as there were several odd bounces. Claude Julien said after the game: "I don't think we blew that because we held back."

- Tuukka Rask allowed five goals on 26 shots in regulation.
- Zdeno Chara finished with 29:23 of ice time. The only person with longer minutes was Montreal's PK Subban.
- The Canadiens take sole possession of the North East division with the win.
POSITIVES
- The Krejci-Horton-Lucic line had a goal and were at least getting opportunities throughout the game -- although not converting.
- The Bruins did score a power play goal -- going 1-for-4 on the man advantage.

OTHER
- Eight of the last nine meetings between Montreal and Boston have ended with a one-goal differential.
- From Joe Haggerty (@HackswithHaggs36s): "Tonight only 2nd time all season the Bruins have reached five goals in a game (Jan. 28 vs Carolina). Haven't scored more than that this year."
Meanwhile, Canadiens have scored four or more goals 17 times this year.
- The Bruins now go on their only two-day stretch without a game for the months of March and April.
