Animal Cruelty Charges Filed After Dogs Freed From Locked Car In Quincy

QUINCY (CBS) -- A Quincy resident is facing animal cruelty charges after firefighters freed two dogs from a locked car on Tuesday.

Mo Liang, 27, is charged with two counts of animal cruelty. Liang left the dogs in a Mazda parked outside a Quincy T.J. Maxx, according to police.

Police said it was 72 degrees just before noon on Tuesday when a caller reported that the Pomeranian and Shih Tzu were looking lethargic inside the car.

After freeing the dogs, police sent out a page in surrounding stores seeking the owner. Liang didn't return to the car until 1 p.m., police said.

It's not yet clear when Liang will appear in Quincy District Court.
