3-Alarm Fire Breaks Out At Hamilton Home Of Syracuse Basketball Star

HAMILTON (CBS) - While Mandy Carter-Zegarowski was cheering on her son, Syracuse University basketball star Michael Carter-Williams, firefighters were battling a three-alarm fire at her home in Hamilton.

Carter-Williams was playing in an NCAA March Madness tournament game in California. The team secured a 66-60 win over 12th-seeded University of California.

A member of Zegarowski's family thanked well-wishers for support in the hours after the fire via Twitter.

According to Hamilton-Wenham Fire, when they arrived there was heavy fire and smoke in the attic of the home. Due to the heavy smoke and fire conditions, firefighters were ordered out of the home at one point during the blaze.

The three-alarm fire significantly damaged the Colonial-style home on Cutler Road but no injuries were reported.

Police are investigating the cause of the fire.
