First Snow Of 2015 Catches Many Off Guard

BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- Snow began falling across the Baltimore metro region this morning and is expected to continue through the early afternoon.

As Chelsea Ingram reports, the colder temps will hang around, with snow expected to taper off around 3:00 p.m.

The National Weather Service issued a winter weather advisory for the Baltimore metro region from 4 a.m. to 3 p.m. On the Eastern Shore the advisory is until 4 p.m. and in western Maryland the advisory ends at 7 p.m.

Accumulations of one to two inches is expected -- possibly up to 3 inches in some areas. The heaviest snow occurred during morning rush hour, beginning at 6 a.m. until 11 a.m.

The snowfall comes as a part of a large area of low pressure moving into the region. The system will bring along with it a cold front that will keep temperatures low throughout the week.

Tuesday's high will be 32.

After the snow moves out, a cold front will come in -- overnight lows will be in the single digits.
