Man Struck, Killed By Box Truck In Harford County
JOPPA, Md. (AP) -- The Harford County Sheriff's Office say a man was struck and killed by a box truck as he ran toward his home in a parking lot driveway in Joppa.
The department said in a news release that early Wednesday, 21-year-old Scott Jackson of Joppa was running along the driveway of a motel, heading toward his home.
Deputies say a box truck turned toward the parking lot and was traveling on the driveway. Police say when the truck drove near Jackson, he lost his footing and fell into the path of the rear wheels of the truck. Authorities say Jackson suffered a fatal head injury.
Investigators say the driver of the box truck did not realize what had happened and continued driving to the parking lot. No charges have been filed.
