Rain moves into Maryland Friday night before a blast of cold weather next week

Changeable weather, including roller coaster temperatures, is in the forecast over the next seven to ten days. Following a couple rounds of rain later this week, much colder weather returns to Maryland next workweek.

Cold start to Friday morning

A cold night is in the forecast. A Frost Advisory is in effect for the I-95 corridor and communities south and east of the Interstate. Temperatures are forecast to get cold enough tonight to end the growing season in this area. It already has farther northwest.

Widespread frost is expected Friday morning, especially outside of Baltimore City. Temperatures bottom-out in the low to mid-30s in many neighborhoods around sunrise Friday. You may have to thaw or scrape if you park outside. Give yourself an extra couple minutes.

Fantastic Friday afternoon weather in Baltimore

Temperatures rebound Friday afternoon. We'll warm into the mid-60s by 3 p.m. Morning sunshine will give way to increasing clouds during the afternoon and evening hours. Plan on another day with gusty south to southwest winds. Winds will average between 15 and 20 mph; gusting up to 30 mph in the afternoon. Gusts up to 40 mph are possible in the higher terrain of Carroll and Howard Counties.

Another cold front will cross our area Friday evening, with scattered showers. The chance of rain peaks between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m. Rain may be briefly heavy. A few rumbles of thunder cannot be ruled out. rainfall amounts will average less than one-half inch. A few spots could receive more.

Chances of rain linger into the weekend forecast

Rain departs before 8 a.m. Saturday. The sky will clear a bit in the afternoon, as temperatures warm into the upper 60s and lower 70s.

Rain returns to the forecast Sunday. We'll wake up to an overcast sky, with showers developing during the morning. Scattered wet weather continues off-and-on throughout the day on into the evening. The breeze will turn gusty, especially during the early evening hours. Sunday will be the last mild day, with highs in the mid-60s.

Temperatures start tumbling Sunday night, into Monday morning.

Winter-like weather across Maryland early next week

Monday and Tuesday are WJZ First Alert Weather Days.

Monday and Tuesday will be the coldest days so far this season. Temperatures will feel much colder on Monday... and will be even colder on Tuesday. Accumulating snow is possible in the higher elevations of the mountains of western Maryland early in the workweek. In central Maryland, we have the potential for a few flurries or sleet pellets late Monday, into Tuesday morning. The first alert weather team wants to alert you (give you the heads up) that big weather change is ahead.

No accumulation is expected in central Maryland. But, don't be surprised to see the first few wet flakes of the season.

Wind-chills Monday will stay in the 30s and 40s throughout the day with a gusty breeze. Stronger wind gusts on Tuesday will allow wind-chills to plunge into the teens and 20s during the morning commute. Wind gusts Tuesday may reach 40 to 45 mph during parts of the day.

Despite the brief punch of winter-like weather Monday and Tuesday, temperatures quickly rebound Wednesday afternoon. The Baltimore region will warm back into the upper 50s and lower 60s.

Have a great rest of your Thursday,

Cutter
