Setup not as favorable for "Northern Lights" in Maryland tonight

The odds of seeing the Northern Lights in Maryland tonight are a bit lower than last night. But, it is still possible and a few photos have already been sent in. This third and final event that is impacting Earth is coming in just a bit weaker than the event Tuesday evening.

Though, if the lights do occur in your area, viewing conditions will be solid. It's best to get away from city lights and look to the north. Earlier clouds are gradually diminishing. Temperatures gradually settle back into the 30s and lower 40s overnight.

Pleasant, breezy weather continues across Maryland

Thursday will be windier than Wednesday; gusting up to 35 MPH between mid-morning and mid-afternoon across central Maryland. Temperatures peak in the upper 50s across the metro, under a mix of sun and clouds. The breeze will make it feel a little chillier through the day.

Temperatures remain seasonable through the end of the workweek. Friday features afternoon temperatures in the mid to upper 50s. It'll be a pretty end to the workweek. The forecast remains cool, breezy and dry for any Friday early evening plans.

Wet weather arrives late Saturday

Clouds increase through the day Saturday. But, the majority of the day will be dry across Maryland. Temperatures will range from the lower 50s to near 60° by 4 p.m. It'll be coolest in the western part of the state. The chance of rain increase from northwest, to southeast, after sunset on Saturday.

Scattered light rain continues through the night, into Sunday morning. We'll dry out Sunday afternoon as sunshine returns to our area. Temperatures are forecast to be warmer Sunday afternoon; generally in the mid to upper 60s.

Colder, more unsettled weather is possible early next week. The First Alert Weather Team is keeping an eye on the potential for rain Tuesday, into Wednesday. The team will be fine-tuning the timing over the next few days.
