Ramadan and Lent begin as Pope calls for kindness
The first night of Ramadan begins this evening, marking the start of a month‑long sunrise‑to‑sunset fast for Muslims. Today is also Ash Wednesday, the beginning of Lent, a Christian season often observed through fasting and reflection leading up to Easter.
