Pollster cites turnout, independents in Democrat’s Texas Senate win

Democrat Taylor Rehmet’s win in the Texas Senate runoff, according to a Dallas‑based Republican pollster, stemmed from weak Republican turnout and a lack of support from independents. The analysis found that many GOP voters stayed home and a significant share of independents backed Rehmet, while Republican candidate Leigh Wambsganss struggled to consolidate her own base. The pollster said those shifts from the first round of voting ultimately helped deliver Rehmet’s victory.
