North Texas representative backs governor’s push to oust Democrat over redistricting

State Rep. Katrina Pierson, R-Rockwall, is voicing strong support for Gov. Greg Abbott’s emergency petition to the Texas Supreme Court aimed at removing Democratic Rep. Gene Wu from office. The petition stems from Wu’s alleged plan to lead dozens of Democrats out of Texas to break quorum and block a vote on new congressional maps. The proposed maps, drawn by Republicans, could potentially give the GOP five additional seats.
