New court petition claims James Broadnax is innocent of 2008 Garland murders
The scheduled April execution of James Broadnax is under review after a shocking change in testimony 17 years after a double murder in downtown Garland. Broadnax was sentenced to death for the 2008 shooting of Matt Butler and Steve Swan, but a new petition filed with the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals claims he was not the shooter.
