Grapevine deli honors first American pope with special sandwich

A deli owner in Grapevine is honoring the first American pope by naming a sandwich after him. The two grew up in the same South Side Chicago neighborhood, attended the same Catholic school, and shared a parish. Though they weren’t close, the deli owner felt a personal connection and created the new menu item as a tribute.
