Alabama inmate executed in first use of nitrogen gas
An Alabama inmate is dead after the country's first ever execution using nitrogen gas. Kenneth Smith was sentenced to death for his role in a 1988 murder for hire. He had an execution scheduled for 2022 by lethal injection, but there were issues with the IV.
