You Guessed It...Heat Advisory Extended Again

Even though our forecast for temperatures coming down a few degrees hasn't changed, the National Weather Service has decided to extended the HEAT ADVISORY until Sunday at 8p.

The main reason is that the humidity values will be a bit higher this weekend, which means the heat index ("feels like" temperature) will still hover right around 105° during the afternoon.  Continue to take the necessary precautions to keep you and your family safe and heat stroke-free.

The winds will be up enough Saturday that our grass fire danger remains elevated.  There are numerous burn bans already in effect across North Texas because of the drought and high temperatures.

We're still expecting our high pressure ridge to move to the west early next week to allow a cold front to get closer to us.  Still anticipating at least a few showers or storms around Monday...and with the extra cloud cover temperatures should ease just below 100°.

Tropical Storm Ernesto continues to churn west of the Windward Islands and is forecast to continue its jog toward the Yucatan Peninsula by early to mid next week.  Have a trip planned to Cozumel or Cancun?  This is certainly one to watch.

Several computer models still bring Ernesto into the Gulf of Mexico by the end of next week.  Where it goes from there is still up in the air...although the way the upper level winds are scheduled to set-up, the most likely path takes Ernesto into Mexico or South Texas by next weekend.
