TERRELL (CBSDFW.COM) — Texas Department of Public Safety is investigating an accident near Terrell that left a woman dead, officials say.

It happened on Highway 80 near Spur 557 around 4 p.m. Sunday, according to Trooper Kyle Bradford. The woman, 52-year-old Melinda Dardin, was hit by a pickup truck while filling her stalled vehicle with gas on the side of the highway, Bradford said. She did not survive.

The pickup truck driver, who was driving from Terrell, stopped at the scene. Bradford said no charges are expected to be filed.

Bradford said DPS determined two tires of the woman's vehicle were on the line, meaning she was in the lane of traffic while filling it up with gas.
