Woman Dies In Recycling Plant Accident

FORT WORTH (CBSDFW.COM) - A woman has died after a one-ton bale of recycled materials fell on her at a recycling plant in East Fort Worth.

It happened just before 2:30 a.m. at a Republic Services facility on Elliott Reeder Road near Carson Street south of the Airport Freeway.

According to police, the woman was crushed by a one-ton round bale. The bales were stacked three high and became unstable, causing two bales to fall - with one crushing the woman.  She was pronounced dead on scene.

We've reached out to federal safety officials and Republic Services for more information.

The name of the woman has not yet been released.
