Wild Alaska Storm
You may have heard about a powerful storm pounding parts of Alaska. The low pressure associated with this storm is rivaling a category two hurricane and producing winds close to 100 mph along the west coast of Alaska.
This indeed could be a once-in-a-lifetime event...and not one many Alaskans would want to relive anyway. Warnings for an 8 foot storm surge does not occur often in this part of the world. Ice shoves along part of the coast will add to the drama as thin, broken up chunks of ice are literally shoved and butted up along the rocky shore.
There is concern for mainly smaller communities and villages in the impact zone, some of which do not have evacuation roads. Conditions in Alaska will improve by Friday..and this system, as strong as it is, will not impact our weather here in North Texas.
