What a Cool August Day, plus Rainfall Totals for North Texas

HOW UNUSUAL WAS TODAY???

Temperatures today across North Texas have stayed in the 70s thanks to cloud cover and rainfall!  There are a few locations that have warmed into the 80s this afternoon thanks to some sunshine.  But keep in mind our average high for this time of year is 96 degrees!  The high temperature so far at DFW has been 78 degrees!  The last time we had a high in the 70s during the month of August was 8 years ago.  In fact, on this date, Aug 21, 2004 we had a high of only 79 degrees.  That is the last time during the month of August we had a high temperature in the 70s.

RAINFALL TOTALS...

Areas north and east of Dallas really missed out on the rain today.  But areas to the west of Fort Worth were the big winners in today's rainfall.  Here's a look at the rainfall totals from today.

HEATING BACK UP...  ALTHOUGH NOT TOO BAD...

Temperatures tonight will be comfortable dropping into the mid 60s.  But tomorrow thanks to sunshine we will climb back into the 90s with a high around 91 degrees.   Temperatures for the rest of the week into the weekend will be in the 90s.

STORM CHANCES RETURN FRIDAY AND SATURDAY...

A few isolated storms will be possible Friday and Saturday afternoon.  Coverage won't be high as it looks like the bulk of the rain will stay north into Oklahoma for the second half of the week.
