West Texas A&M Used Ineligible Player This Season
CANYON, Texas (AP) — West Texas A&M University has used an academically ineligible football player and the penalty will affect the school's Lone Star Conference winning percentage.
Athletics director Michael McBroom on Friday announced recently learning of the violation that happened over the summer involving an unspecified player. The player has participated in five conference games.
McBroom says the nullification penalty does not mean forfeiting any games by the school in Canyon.
For the purposes of playoff seeding, the nullification process determined by the LSC will only affect West Texas A&M's conference winning percentage for league play.
