The upper level low over Arkansas continues to funnel energy into North Texas from north-to-south on this second day of October. The energy is sponsoring clouds and spot showers for the first half of the day across the Metroplex with lingering chances for areas east this afternoon. The activity is minimal so only 10 percent chances through the late morning hours with the second half of the day presenting a much different picture. Afternoon skies are partly cloudy to mostly sunny with highs in the upper 70s making for perfect Fall weather.
We are still on track for a warm up Wednesday through Friday ahead of a cold front that will push toward the Red River then stall. One wave of energy will initially drive the front southward toward North Texas on Thursday, then a second stronger wave will drive the front through North Texas by Saturday morning. This second round of energy will bring cooler, windy conditions Saturday and set the stage for highs in the 60s Sunday…the first time this season and the first time to see highs in the 60s since March 21st.
The rain chances will be Friday night and Saturday for the first half of the day. There is a chance for storms Friday evening for areas along the Red River and the northeast. The activity will be behind the front and elevated…this minimizes the potential for severe weather. However, an isolated strong storm is possible. Expect ample cloud cover Saturday with a clearing trend Saturday night and partly cloudy skies Sunday.
