WEATHERFORD, Texas (CBSDFW.COM) - A father has been arrested after Weatherford police say he nearly choked his 6-month old daughter to death.

According to police, the father of the little girl, 33-year old Robert Brandon Morris, called an ambulance claiming his daughter was non responsive. But hospital officials at Cook's Children's Hospital in Fort Worth noticed that the child had head trauma and bruises inconsistent with natural causes.

At that point, medical personnel from Cook's contacted the Weatherford Police Department regarding what they determined were non-accidental injuries.

Morris was taken into custody at Cook's Hospital and transported back to the Parker County jail where he was charged with injury to a child with serious bodily injury, a first degree felony.

Chris Crawford with Weatherford police says when they interviewed the father where he admitted to putting his hands around the little girls throat and applying pressure until she was quiet - then throwing her on the bed after he became frustrated with her crying.

The child is still listed in serious condition.
