MAYPEARL (CBSDFW.COM) - Former Maypearl Police Chief Kevin Coffey surrendered himself on Wednesday shortly after investigators with the Texas Rangers filed four warrants based on child sex charges.

Coffey is accused of exposing himself and sexually touching a 14-year-old girl.

"It's embarrassing for our community that this person as a chief made the choice to do something very vile or at least it appears so," said Leah Kelso, a Maypearl resident.

Kelso, like other residents who call Maypearl home, said she can hardly handle listening to the details of the arrest, let alone try to explain what happened in the case to her daughter Gracie.

Investigators said it started with video chats.

The report indicates, "Chief Coffey would talk to her sexually and she would get naked for him."

Authorities also claim Coffey would pleasure himself during the chats.

Investigators said when the two met in person inside Coffey's office, "...he would grab her hair and kiss her, he would put his hands in the front and back of her pants..."

The report also indicates Coffey warned the victim to stop texting him but it would be okay to continue speaking over the phone.
"When I heard this today and I'm like, 'Oh my god. Like, really?'" said Brittanie Lyon, who volunteered with Coffey.

Lyon said Coffey would send her inappropriate text messages, massage her back and say things that made her uncomfortable.

"I've been alone with him in his office. I've been alone with him out patrolling at night time, for hours. And I'm like what if something would have happened?" questioned Lyon.

Coffey is set to appear before a judge on Thursday morning.

The City of Maypearl released a statement on Wednesday confirming Coffey is no longer the police chief.
