Warm Weekend, Then Fall Makes an Appearance

WINTER WEATHER FORECAST TONIGHT ON CBS 11 NEWS AT 10pm.

More ice than snow?  How cold?  Tonight will be my winter weather forecast for North Texas on CBS 11 News at 10pm.  Please be sure to tune in for a month-by-month look at the upcoming winter.

FRIDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL…

Great weather for the games tonight.  Temps will start in the low 80s and then fall into the 60s by the end of the game.

PERFECT WEATHER FOR GAME 6...

Unlike the past couple of games in Detroit, there is no threat of rain in Arlington this weekend.  The forecast looks great for Game 6.  It will be warm before the game starts and then only drop off into the 70s.

WARM WEEKEND FOLLOWED BY A TASTE OF FALL…

After a chilly start to our Friday morning, temperatures warmed nicely this afternoon into the mid 80s.  Tomorrow will be similar with temps in the 50s in the morning and then upper 80s in the afternoon.  Sunday will be warm as well with temps near 90 degrees.

COLD FRONT ARRIVES MONDAY NIGHT…

Temperatures on Monday will warm to 90 degrees with sunny skies, but a strong cold front arrives Monday night into Tuesday.  This will be our first true Fall cold front ushering our coldest air of the season.  Here's why it will get cold.

An upper level trough will swing across the Central Plains and dive into the Southeastern part of the country.

This pattern will help cold air make it into Texas.  The question is who sees the coldest of the air.  Most of the models keep the coldest air to the east of Texas.  But one model has the coldest air moving into Louisiana and East Texas.  Since the majority of the models favor the coldest air east of our area, I will favor that solution too.  Regardless, it will be cold and windy on Tuesday with highs in the 60s.  Wednesday and Thursday morning will be our coldest mornings with temperatures starting in the 40s and even a few 30s Thursday morning.  It doesn't look like a freeze will be possible as all locations will stay above 32 degrees.  Here's a look at the lows expected Wednesday and Thursday morning.  Click on the map and then click again when the new page opens to see the image larger.
